Meizu MX/M3X VS Xiaomi MI5S Design, Hardware, Camera, Battery Review

Meizu has released Meizu MX smartphone on November 30, which gives us much surprise such as Flyme 6 OS,  dual glass screen. Helio P20 Octa core 2.3Ghz processor, 18W mCharge quick charge, etc. Therefore, most meizu fans are satisfied with this Meizu MX beautiful smartphone. However, Xiaomi fans will show that Xiaomi MI5S is more beautiful than Meizu MX. So what do you think?

Design

Meizu MX uses 5.5 inch Sharp TDDI screen which is the most excellent screen in Meilan series. It owns 1500:1 contrast, under the strong light outdoor, we can still see the screen content clearly. it adopts full incell OGS technology with very clear visual screen. There is a 3.5mm earphone jack, receiver, speaker and a USB Type C port under the bottom. In addition, Meizu X supports 18W mCharge quick charge, 2.5D dual glass middle frame design with 7.4mm thickness. On the back, there is a 12MP back camera on the top left with Sony IMX386 sensor and dual tone LED light, which makes Meizu MX look very gorgeous suitable for young people.

However, Xiaomi MI5S still uses 5.15inch screen with 2.5D glass, meanwhile, it supports 3D touch function, ditching the physical Home button to use ultrasonic fingerprint scanner module. On the back, it uses all metal design with high gloss anodic oxidation process and CNC cutting process. In other details, Xiaomi MI5S LED designed on the left side of the camera, the receiver is placed on the antenna line. As for interfaces, Xiaomi MI5S has not changed anythings such as USB Type C port, dual SIM card, dual standby, not supporting TF card expansion.

Hardware

Meizu MX is powered by Helio p20 Octa core processor, which is the first smartphone to use this chipset. Compared with Helio P10, this one uses 16nm architecture, so that Meizu MX can deal with daily use and large 3D games, The LPDDR4X 3GB/4GB RAM can improve its 20% performance, reducing 25% power consumption. It uses Mali-T880 GPU. According to score test, Helio P20 processor has been largely improved in computing and image processing ability. In Antutu test, it has got 64,513 points, 11,189 points in 3D performance, which belongs to mid-range level. In Geekbench, it has got 845 points single core, and 3855 points multi core,

Xiaomi MI5S is powered by Snapdragon 821 processor, 2.15GHz+2GHz frequency, the performance is between Snapdragon 821 2.35GHz version and Snapdragon 820 version, in launching apps speed, Snapdragon 821 has improved 10% in speed than Snapdragon 820, in CPU, the performance has improved 10%, GPU improves 5%, power consumption reduces 5%. According to Antutu test, Xiaomi MI5S got 150,119 points, and 2350 points in single core and 5332 points in multi core from Geekbench 3. So Xiaomi MI5S has better performance than Meizu MX.

Meizu MX uses Sony IMX386 sensor, 12MP back camera with F/2.0 aperture, 1.25μm single pixel, PDAF, and 6P lens for more accurate focus and higher image quality. The interface of photographing is very simple, it provides fast focusing, pressing the shutter to take photos quickly. It provides auto mode, light mode, macro distance mode, etc to enhance the fun. Besides beautification mode, it can adjust different beautification specs, so it will take the best selfies.In the real samples, it has 5MP front camera to take nice selfies. As for the back camera, it has nice pixel control performance with clear pictures. But under the low light, the color is not bright. But under the strong light, it has nice performance to show the real objects and white balance in good control. The F/2.0 big aperture also brings the nice visual effect in background blurring.

In camera, Xiaomi MI5S owns front 4MP and 12MP dual rear camera with Sony IMX378, 1/2.3 optical sensor, which is 59% larger than iPhone 6s Plus, 1.55μm unit pixel, which meets the mainstream level in current flagship smartphones. Then let’s see the photo samples as below.

Therefore, Xiaomi MI5S has better back camera than Meizu MX, but the front camera of Meizu MX should be better according to test.

Battery

Meizu MX is built in 3200mAh battery and it has got 17,923 points in its battery test, thanks to 16nm architecture and its OS with the latest power saving solution, Meizu MX has very powerful battery life. Xiaomi MI5S also has 3200mAh battery with QC3.0 quick charge. In theory, they both have similar battery life and fast charging time.

Conclusion

As a brand for young people, Meizu MX has played ultimate role in its design and hardware in Meilan series. It has outstanding performance, camera, and durable battery life. It has two versions, RAM 3GB ROM 16GB at 1,699 yuan and RAM 4GB ROM 64GB at 1,999 yuan, but Xiaomi MI5S has higher performance in its hardware thanks to Snapdragon 821 processor, and better camera with dual real ones. It also has two versions, RAM 3GB ROM 64GB internal storage at 1,999 yuan,  RAM 4GB ROM 128GB at 2299 yuan, so if you are looking for a cheaper one with good performance, Meizu MX is a better choice, however, if you want to play larger games, just try this Xiaomi MI5S.
