Why Honor 20 Doesn’t Use Screen Fingerprint Recognition?

On the evening of May 31, Honor held a new product launch conference in Shanghai, officially releasing two new flagships, the Honor 20 and the Honor 20 PRO.

The Honor 20 series uses a 6.26-inch glamorous full-screen with a hole directly on the screen, which perfectly hides the camera. The front camera aperture is only 4.5mm. Thus, it is the industry’s smallest aperture.

The camera is on the left side of the notification bar in the upper left corner of the screen, which perfectly avoids the core area of the screen display. Also, it ensures up to 91.7% of the screen ratio, creating an extremely immersive full-screen experience.

In order to make the phone body more complete, the Honor 20 series adopts the integrated design of fingerprint and side power button.

When talking about why no screen fingerprint recognition module was used, Zhao Ming said that compared with the screen fingerprints, the Honor 20 series side fingerprint unlocking success rate is as high as 98.5%, which is 110% faster than the screen fingerprint (compared with the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus).

In addition to unlocking, Glory also gave it new high-tech features – long press for a second to wake up the smart voice assistant YOYO, further facilitating the use.

Fingerprint recognition has developed to the present, and we can see that our side fingerprints have reached a level of a post-fingerprint module and can be unlocked within 0.3 seconds. This technology is better than the fingerprint inside the screen.
