Alleged Snapdragon 855 Leaked in GeekBench Database
Obviously, the Snapdragon 845 has been recognized as the best mobile platform. And unlike the previous models that appeared only on a few smartphones, the SND845 can be counted on multiple devices. Every year more and more smartphone vendors switch to Qualcomm. So when looking at the top ten smartphones lists, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 –powered devices are included only. Undoubtedly, the same thing will happen with the upcoming Snapdragon 855. Today, it leaked in the GeekBench database.
As for the running scores, the alleged Snapdragon 855 scores 3,697 points and 10,469 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. At present, the average score of the Snapdragon 845 in GB4 is 2400/8900, which is about 54% and 20% respectively. So we can state though the performance has been improved a lot in comparison to the previous generation, the single-core score is still inferior to Apple’s flagship processor A11, which was released last year. The Apple A11 processor has a single-core run of 4,300 points. In the face of Apple’s latest A12 processor this year, this gap may be even bigger. Moreover, the Huawei Kirin 980 is announced to score 3360 in the single-core test.
However, there is an opinion that this is not the Snapdragon 855 we are waiting for. Instead, it can be a Snapdragon chip made for Windows laptops. As you know, Qualcomm and Microsoft have worked together for a period of time on ARM-based Windows systems. So it is not excluded that this is a possibility for PC-side chips.
But the thing is that the leaked screenshot shows a codename of msmnline, which also runs on Android 9 and there is a 6GB of RAM. So most likely we are dealing with the Snapdragon 855. But another leaked screenshot makes us confused once again. The same device appeared in the HTML5test running library with a Chrome score of 510 (out of 555). It is a 16:9 device. Do you think the Snapdragon 855 will appear on an outdated-looking smartphone?
