On January 20, Real Graphene, an American company, announced that it has developed graphene batteries for smartphones and is preparing for commercial use.

Real Graphene says that with a 60W charger, a 3000mAh graphene battery can be fully charged in 20 minutes. This will save more than an hour than current cell phone batteries of the same capacity.

However, this data is not much impressive. The Chinese smartphone, the OPPO Reno Ace comes with a 65W charger, which charges a 4000mAh battery in 30 minutes. Is it much different from Real Graphene’s products?

However, in addition to fast charging, graphene batteries also have another advantage. That is, the charge and discharge cycle can reach 1500 times, while ordinary batteries have a maximum of 500 times.

At present, Real Graphene has launched a graphene charging power bank with a capacity of 10,000mAh. Via a 60W charging, it fully charges in 55 minutes. Plus, it can charge 3 devices at the same time, with a single port charging up to 22.5W.

The biggest reason that graphene batteries cannot become mainstream is that the price is too high. The price of one kilogram of graphene is $300,000. This is completely unacceptable to smartphone manufacturers.
