Huawei Honor 8 Lite VS Honor 8 Design, CPU, Antutu, Game, Camera, Battery Review

Maybe Huawei Honor 8, one of the most beautiful smartphones can attract users due to high price, so Huawei decides to release Huawei Honor 8 Lite for better choice. But do you know the difference between Huawei Honor 8 and Huawei Honor 8 Lite, today we will make full review about them.

Design

Honor 8 lite forehead has changed in the white design, camera and light/proximity are placed on both sides, the receiver in the middle has processed in white, good to see but a little wide in frame.

Huawei Honor 8 lite doesn’t adopt metal frame but the plastic material without nano molding injection.

In addition, Honor 8 lite earphone jack has moved from bottom to the top, and cancelling the infrared sensor, which may lead to smart remote controller function removed. The USB type C port has also changed to use Micro USB port.

Therefore, Honor 8 lite is thicker than Honor 8.

They both have difference  in their back design. Honor 8 has yellow partial color compared with Honor 8 lite, the honor 8 lite adopts single camera, removing laser focus sensor and LED light. In addition, Honor 8 lite home button can be pressed.

Therefore, in order to save cost, Honor 8 lite has changed in the design in some details.

Screen

They both have 5.2 inch, but Honor 8 lite is a little longer, because Honor 8 uses 5.15 inch. And Honor 8 lite doesn’t adopt LTPS display like Honor 8, but IPS screen.

In appearance, the former doesn’t have high color saturation as latter one, we can see the clear difference in color.

In addition, Honor 8 lite can improve readable function, up to 538 nit brightness, but honor 8 hides this function in options, up to 431 nit brightness.

Kirin 950 vs Kirin 655

Kirin 950 performance has four Cortex-A72, and four Cortex A53, which is over Kirin 655 Octa core A53 processor, Kirin 655 as the upgraded version of Kirin 650, only improving main frequency from 2.0GHz to 2.1GHz, its GPU still use Mali-T830MP2 900MHz.

Due to Kirin 655 processor similar to Snapdragon 625 in performance, it aims at low power consumption but the performance, so whether in CPU and GPU, they have obvious difference in daily use.

In daily use, Kirin 655 processor performs slower than Kirin 950, occupying more progress in CPU, especially big core, but running fluently without problem.

In game performance, ‘FreeStyle Street Basketball’, there is one core in four big core very high, but Honor 8 performs in average, four big core is under low loading state. But it doesn’t affect the running fluency of Kirin 655. In playing FreeStyle Street Basketball game, it performs fluently, no big difference from Kirin 950. They both have heat issue sometimes but run smoothly.

Honor 8 lite as the lower version of Honor 8 has no big difference in use, it can meet daily use for users although they have obvious gap in data.

Camera

Honor 8 lite as a budget smartphone, how is the camera of Honor 8 lite. Let’s see some samples.

In the day, they have similar white balance, and details, colors.

In micro distance sample, they have no big difference in background blurring.

They have big difference in light, without turning on HDR, Honor 8 lite light tends in dark part, but Honor 8 seems very balanced. Although Honor 8 dark part doesn’t as bright as honor 8 in dark part, the high gloss version controls better than Honor 8 lite.

They have obvious difference in taking photos at night. At the first sight, Honor 8 has higher brightness than lite version.

Therefore, Honor 8 has better camera performance.

Although we can see the difference, in experience,Honor 8 lite still has nice performance in camera besides camera launching speed and focus speed a little slowly.

Battery

Although Honor 8 lite is a low power consumption phone, and Honor 8 is a high performance smartphone, they have similar 3,000mAh battery, so do they have big difference? In one hour test, such as watching online video, listening music, searching the Internet, taking videos, playing games and making phone call in 10 minutes.

They have similar speed in power consumption, Honor 8 only consumes 15% power in one hour, honor 8 lite consumes 14% power, in taking video section, Honor 8 reduces 6% power, honor 8 lite 5% power, and then in game test, honor 8 loses 5% power, honor lite 4%, in daily use, they have similar power consumption with excellent level, in light use, it can support two days use.

In charging speed, we can see Honor 8 takes at least one hour 50 minutes, but due to honor 8 lite without quick charge, it takes 3 hour 8 minutes with 5V/1A power adapter, similar level to iPhone 7 plus.

Conclusion

Huawei Honor 8 Lite  is not as good as Huawei Honor 8  in performance, camera, etc, but according to experience, Huawei Honor 8 lite still can performs well and meet your many needs, but at cheaper price. If you don’t care about price, you can try Honor 8, if not, Honor 8 lite is a better choice.
