Huawei MediaPad M5 High-end Tablets Announced
In addition to the new MateBook X Pro notebook, today Huawei officially released the MediaPad M5-series tablets with an 8.4-inch screen, a 10.8-inch screen, and M5 Pro. There are two color options to choose from – champagne gold and deep-space gray.
One of the selling points of the Huawei MediaPad M5 is the Harman Kardon joint design. The 10.8-inch variant comes with sound-wave four-way stereo speakers, while the 8.4-inch version uses dual-stereo speakers. Each speaker comes with its own smart amplifier chip driver. Plus, they use Huawei Histen technology to provide 3D surround sound and to provide an immersive experience. Of course, they support Hi-Res audio quality standards.
As for the display, it uses an IPS screen with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, pixel density of 280PPI (10.8 inches) and 359PPI (8.4 inches) with Huawei ClariVu 5.0 sharp screen display enhancement algorithm that dramatically improves the dynamic range of the screen, contrast, color saturation, as well as Huawei’s self-developed dynamic color temperature adjustment function, eye protection function, etc.
These tablets have an all-metal body design with a 2.5D curved glass and U-shaped antenna design complemented by a nano-injection process. The Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro also works with a slim full-size keyboard to turn on co-PC mode to get a Windows-like experience on Android tablets. The M5 Pro also supports the 4096 precision pressure-sensitive stylus M-Pen that supports side writing.
The rest of features include Emotion UI 8.0 on top of Android 8.0 Oreo, Huawei Kirin 960 octa-core processor with a Mali-G71MP8 GPU, 13MP autofocus-enabled rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter, USB Type-C connector, built-in microphone, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. These tablets are also equipped with Physical home buttons and fingerprint readers. They all support 9V/2A Quick Charge technology, but the battery capacity differs from model to model. The MediaPad M5 Pro and the 10.8-inch variant come with a 7,500mAh battery, while the smaller version sports a 5,400mAh battery.
