On December 18, Lenovo held a conference in Beijing’s global headquarters park. There have been leaked too many phones of this brand. So we didn’t know what to expect for. As a result, the manufacturer came in with a number of new smartphones, and we have to say each of them is going to become a bestseller in its niche. Apart from the much-talked Lenovo Z5s, there is also the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT with a Snapdragon 855 and whopping 12GB RAM as well as the Lenovo S5 Pro GT with a Snapdragon 660 and ZUI 10 based on Android P.

In June of this year, Lenovo announced it will come in with an excellent product that will have all reasons to be called national phones. When the current national flagship Lenovo Z5 was out and followed by the selfie-master Lenovo S5 Pro and the epoch-making Z5 Pro, we understood Lenovo has turned into a ‘super player’, which is capable of designing and launching three different quality smartphones in at the same time. Today’s conference showed the mentioned three models are the seeds and more powerful models are going to mix the other players’ plans.

Lenovo Z5s Features

The Lenovo S5z sports a 6.3-inch microporous drop screen, with a resolution of 2340 x 1080, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 92.6% screen ratio. It also uses the high-intensity middle frame of the Roman arc, made of an aerospace aluminum material, providing a high brightness around the CNC, and supporting corrosion resistance.

The Lenovo Z5s also uses a nano-scale holographic stereo rainbow coating process, with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass back cover, P2i waterproof (three-dimensional water repellent coating), built-in catheter-type hidden earpiece (80mW high power, speaker handset combo), which can also be used as a stereo speaker, giving you a more extreme 3D sound quality experience, while retaining a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Type-C interface. There are three color options to choose from – Star Gray, Titanium Blue, and Coral Orange.

Under the hood, the Lenovo Z5s carries the Snapdragon 710 AIE Turbo processor, which uses the same 10nm process as the Snapdragon 845, with a maximum frequency of 2.2GHz. The Kyro 3 Series CPU and Adreno 6 Series GPUs provide better graphics performance, increased rendering speed, and significantly lower power consumption.

Coupled with the Lenovo Game Turbo game acceleration engine, it delivers a fast and smooth user experience with powerful performance and balanced function configuration. It provides a 120Hz high sampling rate and dual stereo channel speakers. Thus, the game effect is way better. The exclusive game mode, based on AI scene pre-judgment, can achieve CPU-GPU highest priority resource scheduling, reduce the size of core migration delay, and make smartphone performance a priority for game service. Moreover, Lenovo Mobile and Tencent Games reached deep cooperation. So the Lenovo Z5s will support the Honor of Kings Vulkan full-blood version.

The battery capacity is 3300mAh, which supports 18W fast charging. You can charge five minutes and play a heavy game for about half an hour.

It runs on ZUI10 system based on Android 9.0. The system is designed for full-screen operations, and comes with an unlimited storage cloud service, supports for 4D U-Touch gestures, smooth non-calendar 5.0, U health platform, etc. At the same time, the company said the Z5s system will be upgraded every month.

Lenovo Z5s is equipped with a three-camera configuration for the first time. It uses a 16MP main sensor, which is accompanied by an 8MP optical lossless zoom lens and a 5MP lossless portrait blur lens to further enhance the camera performance on a dual-camera basis. The 16MP main camera uses 6P lenses and supports f/1.8 aperture, while the 8MP telephoto lens supports 2X optical lossless zoom. The camera also has a smarter AI scene recognition function, which can optimize 500+ scenes. The Lenovo Z5s’ 5MP lossless portrait blur lens supports non-destructive perspective portrait mode, face tracking exposure with full brightness analysis algorithm, etc. The 80-color rendering index of the LED flash also makes the dark skin restoration more realistic.

On the front, hidden under the Lenovo Z5s’ drop screen, there is a 16MP camera with a maximum equivalent pixel area of 2μm. Combined with the depth algorithm, it can realize the ‘Idol-level selfie shooting’. This 16MP lossless image quality zoom is used in a smartphone for the first time. It is even better than the dual-cameras. The resolution and shooting performance are even better. The lossless viewing angle portrait mode and lossless optical zoom provide better photo capturing.

In terms of price, the Lenovo Z5s 4GB+64GB version is priced at 1398 yuan ($203), the 6GB+64GB version is priced at 1598 yuan ($232), and the 6GB+128GB is priced at 1898 yuan ($275). In order to make happy the fans of Lenovo smartphone spokesperson Zhu Yilong, Lenovo Mobile will launch a special version of Zhu Yilong (coral orange 128GB). It comes with a built-in Zhu Yilong’s exclusive boot screen, wallpaper, ringtones, Zhu Yilong’s laser signature on the back of the fuselage, and other customized minor features. The Zhu Yilong custom coral orange version costs 1998 yuan ($290). The pre-sales have already begun, and the phones will go on sale on December 24.

Lenovo S5 Pro GT Features

Apart from those two, the company also announced the Lenovo S5 Pro GT. Compared to the original S5 Pro, the upgraded version of the S5 Pro GT equipped with the Snapdragon 660 processor. In addition to the upgraded processor from Snapdragon 636 to Snapdragon 660, the Lenovo S5 Pro GT and Lenovo S5 Pro are identical in all aspects. Thus, it comes with a 6.2-inch screen, that has a screen ratio of 19:9 and a 3D floating screen design, and an all-metal unibody, with a 205 zircon sandblasting process, providing crystal black and pure gold color options.

In terms of camera, the Lenovo S5 Pro GT is equipped with four cameras. On the front, it carries a 20MP Sony IMX476 + 8MP infrared camera. The Sony sensor size is 1/2.8 inches, the pixel area is 2.0μm, and it supports 3D US, 3D Natural beauty, 3D repairing light, and zero-sensing face unlocking. The dual-camera on the back uses a sensors combination of 12MP (main camera) + 20MP (sub-camera) camera, with a 1.25μm pixel size, 2x optical zoom support, smart HDR, AI super picture quality, and scene photography.

As for the rest of features, the Lenovo S5 Pro GT sports two-channel stereo speakers, a built-in 3500mAh battery (18W fast charge), music voice AI assistant, 3.5mm headphone jack, etc.

The Lenovo S5 Pro GT 4+64GB version is priced at 1198 yuan ($174), the 6+64 version costs 1298 yuan ($188), and the 6+128GB version sells for 1498 yuan ($217). It will go on sale on December 24.

Lenovo Z5 Pro GT Features

After introducing the Lenovo Z5s, Chang Cheng said that Lenovo ended the era of smartphone profiteering in 2018 and will lead the ultra-flagship era in 2019. And this so-called ‘super flagship’ is the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT version that will be released soon. According to reports, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT version will use the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform, which is the first officially released Snapdragon 855 model among mainstream phone manufacturers.

Lenovo said that compared to the Snapdragon 845, Snapdragon 855’s CPU performance will increase by 45%, GPU performance will increase by 20%, AI performance will increase by 200%, while power consumption is reduced by 20%.

At the same time, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT version will also be the world’s first phone to use a 12GB LPDDR4x 4266Mbps memory. Lenovo claims that with the cooperation of Snapdragon 855 + 12GB memory + ZUI 10, it will become a real beast. According to the official statement, its AnTuTu score exceeds 370,000 points.

In terms of appearance, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT version also brought some changes. The fuselage will use a microcrystalline carbon fiber texture and red and black colors. The company said these are classic elements of super sports cars. In addition to these, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT version will continue the design of the original Z5 Pro.

The Lenovo Z5 Pro Snapdragon 855 version uses a sliding screen design, which is combined with the unique fifth-generation Rollcage body combined with COF screen packaging technology, a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen, which supports HDR10 display, and has a 95.06% of the world’s first screen ratio, supports the fifth generation of photoelectric screen fingerprints, zero-light face unlocking, and is paired with a built-in 3350mAh battery.

It is also equipped with a Sony dual main camera, using a 16MP Sony IMX519 + 24MP Sony IMX576 sensors combination. This camera supports backlight AI, night AI, and video AI. On the front, it carries a 16MP + 8MP AI camera.

Based on Andriod P, Lenovo ZUI 10 has undergone a comprehensive optimization upgrade. The UI design is user-friendly, and the operation interface is simple and beautiful. In addition, ZUI 10’s unique 4D U-Touch somatosensory gesture interaction is retained.

Lenovo ZUI 10 has joined the smooth non-Carton 5.0 technology, the unique application of the catapult start design. So that the app open speed increased by 35%. At the same time, ZUI 10 comes with a cloud service upgrade, providing smarter backup capabilities. So now users can get lifetime free cloud space through participation activities. It also includes the ‘Super Player’ program. The latter aims to recruit a group of loyal users of Lenovo smartphones and work with them to promote the Lenovo devices.

As for pricing, as other Lenovo phones launched recently, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT version will cost relatively affordable. There will be four variants of 6+128GB, 8+128GB, 8+256GB, 12+512GB priced at 2698 yuan ($391), 2998 yuan ($434), 3398 yuan ($493), and 4398 yuan ($638), respectively.

The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT version will open an appointment on January 15 next year and will be officially launched on January 24.
