Meizu M6S With a Full-Screen Announced

Today was a big day for Meizu. It held a conference in Beijing and announced its first full-screen smartphone. But it’s not about a full-screen phone only. Meizu has revised its whole strategy and philosophy. It wasn’t easy because the selling point of Meizu devices was the mBack. Now with the launch of a full-screen handset, it has had to refuse its patented technology. But actually, the Meizu M6S (aka Meizu Blue Charm S6) is a great phone and can be considered as one of the cheapest full-screen handsets. Let’s get acquainted with its features.

First, the appearance of the Meizu M6S looks like the Meizu Pro 6. Thus it comes with an all-metal housing using a nano-injection antenna design and CNC crafting. There are for color options to choose from blue, black, silver, and gold. And the device comes with dimensions of 72.5 x 152 x 8mm.

The Meizu M6S sports a 5.7-inch full-screen with a resolution of HD+, an aspect ratio of 18:9, a brightness of 450nit, and a contrast ratio of 1000: 1. The display uses an In-Cell technology and is covered with a 2.5D arc glass.

Meizu was one of the closest partners of MediaTek. But its chips can be found only on mid-range and low-end models. Therefore, when people hear about a MediaTek chip on a certain phone, they do not think it is capable of providing a stable performance. So the manufacturer decided to turn to Samsung. The Meizu M6S is packed with Samsung’s first full Netcom Exynos 7872 processor. The latter comes with two A73 cores and 4 A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It runs on a 14nm FinFET technology. The chip is paired with a 3GB of RAM and 32/64GB of storage, but the latter can be expanded up to 128GB. According to the official info, the Exynos 7872 scores 1313 at GeekBench 4 single-core test. Thus the scoring is 45% higher than the Kirin 659, 52% higher than the Helio P20, and 52.5% higher than the Snapdragon 625.

The rest of features include a 3000mAh battery supporting 18W fast charging. Thus it can charge up to 52% in 30 minutes only. The main camera of the phone uses a Samsung 16MP camera with a f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, rainbow soft algorithm, a 1.12μm pixel area, and a high-speed phase focus. The front camera uses another Samsung sensor of 8MP. The aperture is the same as well as the rainbow soft beauty algorithm. But it also supports skin beauty and facial brightness improvement software.

Well, now let’s talk about the most interesting part of this story. Meizu has rebranded mBack, and now it’s called Super mBack. It has become sensitive from the old physical shell. Actually, it implements all those functions of various pressure duration and strength.

The fingerprint scanner is placed on the side. It can unlock the phone in 0.2s and supports fingerprint payment.

The Meizu M6S runs on Flyme 6.0 OS that comes with AI called OneMind.

Finally, the 3+32GB variant will be priced at 999 yuan ($155), while the 3+64GB will be available for 1199 yuan ($186). They will go on sale on January 20.
