Moto RAZR Folding Screen Smartphone Officially Announced

There are not many smartphone manufacturers in the world who can express their feelings. However, Motorola is one of them. In the golden age when smartphones were not popular, a loud ‘Hello Moto’ was enough to make you the most beautiful girl on the street. Even today, although Moto phones are no longer mainstream, they can always bring people back to the sympathetic memories.

Today, Motorola officially released the Moto RAZR, a replica of the Moto V3, which combines the superior design of the ‘Blade’ with the most popular folding screen design. The company has used a floating shaft design to solve the common crease problem of the folding screen. Therefore, Moto does not simply sell ‘feelings’ but actually brings ‘different use experience’.

Although the Moto RAZR is a replica, we prefer to use it as a fashionable new product. Moto does not follow the example of other folding screen phones. It makes the screen of the phone bigger on the basis of the existing device. Instead, it keeps the size of the smartphone by folding the screen while preserving the existing screen size. In fact, as a phone with a 6.2-inch display, the Moto RAZR is really small.

When unfolded, the Moto RAZR is only 72x172x6.9mm. When folded, its dimensions reach only 72x84x14mm. So you can do everything with one hand and fold it into the pocket of skinny jeans. Like the previous exposure, the Moto RAZR offers a 2.7-inch 800 x 600 resolution OLED display on the outside, while the inside provides a 6.2-inch 2142 x 876 resolution pOLED flexible display.

To ensure that the organic material covered by the screen does not have visible creases, the Moto RAZR offers a new floating hinge structure that stretches the flexible outer cover material to further counteract the crease problem.

The Moto RAZR may also be the most reliable folding device at present. Its body is made of polycarbonate. The whole machine supports IP68 dustproof and waterproof. The Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X do not have the corresponding waterproof capability. It is no doubt that Moto’s designers have taken into account the durability of the whole machine.

The only downside may lie in the hardware itself. Since the Moto RAZR has already started trial production at the beginning of the year, much time has been spent on improving the reels. So the Moto RAZR did not provide a set of hardware for the 2019 mainstream smartphone. It only uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor and 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM storage combination. And because of the size of the body, Moto only equipped it with a 2510mAh capacity battery, which means that its battery life performance will not be satisfactory.

It is worth mentioning that the Moto RAZR battery is small, but it still uses a dual-cell design. The company has placed a battery on each side to ensure the user’s trimming problem after the phone is unfolded. In addition, the Moto RAZR has 15W fast charging, which compensates for the small battery to some extent.

The phone is equipped with a 16-megapixel main camera on the outside, and a 5-megapixel main camera on the inside bangs. Both cameras can be used for taking selfies and video calls depending on the state of the phone. In the chin, Moto also prepared a physical fingerprint recognition button.

The Moto RAZR will accept reservations in Europe, North America and parts of Asia starting December 2019 and will be officially released in January 2020. However, it’s not a cheap smartphone. This device will be available for $1499.99. However, compared with other folding screen smartphones, it’s quite competitive.
