A Mysterious Xiaomi Valentino Spotted in GeekBench

Xiaomi has begun 2018 very aggressively. It is launching new smartphones one after another. Probably, this is the next strategic move after the offline stores that will help the company to achieve total shipments over 100 million units. We will see the company’s annual flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 7 in the coming months. But before it happens, at least two new models will hit the market. The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is set to debut on May 10. And today, another mysterious smartphone with a codename of Xiaomi Valentino leaked on GeekBench.

Xiaomi Valentino

As the screenshot shows, the Xiaomi Valentino will be packed with a Snapdragon 638 chip that scores 1485 points in a single-core test and 5440 points in a multi-core test. It is also paired with a 6GB of RAM. Actually, this chip is not listed in Qualcomm’s database. So there is every reason to think the Valentino will be the first phone to come in with such a processor.

Looking at the benchmark results we can state it is going to be a mid-range smartphone. The GeekBench scores are not astonishing, but they are close to the super mid-range Snapdragon 660. Therefore, we can take it as a lower variant of this chipset. The screenshot also shows it uses an octa-core design and has a 1.44GHz CPU clock speed.

At this moment, it still remains unknown whether the Xiaomi Valentino will belong to the Redmi family or the Mi line. But if nothing changes, it will become the next cost-effective smartphone of the manufacturer.
