Nubia Alpha Smart Wrist Terminal Launched in China
This afternoon, the Nubia Alpha ‘Watch Machine’ was officially released in Beijing, of which the black version with eSIM support is priced at 3,499 yuan ($521), and the 18K gold plated eSIM card version is priced at 4,499 yuan ($670). They will officially go on sale on the morning of April 10.
The Nubia Alpha is a new form of smart terminal device that not only has the calling function of a smartphone but also can be worn on the wrist to transform into a smartwatch. With the independent 4G network connection capability supported by eSIM, the Nubia Alpha supports various functions allowing the users to make video calls and the like.
It uses a 4.01-inch flexible display. This curved screen was jointly developed by Nubia and screen supplier Visionox. It uses the sixth-generation AMOLED flexible display. It is the world’s first mass production flexible screen. It also has a resolution of 960*192, 244PPI
In terms of parameters, the Nubia Alpha sports a built-in 500mAh battery, which provides up to two days of normal use, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100, 1GB of RAM + 8GB of ROM, a 5MP camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a wide angle of 82°, and so on. By the way, the Nubia Alpha has the Full Touch Photography function. You can take photos by tapping an area on the screen in the camera app.
The Nubia Alpha uses a flexible OLED screen structure of up to 11 layers. Its bonding reliability and light transmission during the bending process pose great challenges to Nubia and Vision. After numerous experiments, the screen finally achieved a thickness of only 0.64mm, with a twist life of more than 100,000 times and is dustproof and waterproof.
Of course, for a smart device in the form of a watch, the configuration is not the focus of Nubia Alpha. In terms of operational interaction, Nubia brings a ‘volley operation’ to Alpha. That is, the finger does not need to touch the screen to operate. With the built-in gesture sensor of Nubia Alpha, the user can control the screen by sliding up / down and left / right.
The Nubia Alpha runs on Alpha OS system, which has a magic body and a video screen clock function, and offers a variety of dial adapters, customizable text content, support for horizontal and vertical display, Always on Display, built-in music playback, Mavericks voice, mobile payment, mobile navigation, motion monitoring and more.
This smart terminal also has built-in health professional modules and a rich selection of sports modes. They include exercise tracking, heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, sedentary reminders, etc. It can also implement a wrist-lit screen and message reminder.
At last, the Nubia Alpha wristband material is made of 316L stainless steel. The black uses a 205 zircon sandblasting and PVD plating on the surface, while the gold part gold uses multi-grinding polishing + drawing + bracelet. The crown and back cover has an 18K gold plating treatment. The whole machine adopts an internal locking screw structure, and the wristband is simple and easy to disassemble and can be adapted to different wrists.
