Redmi Notebook Supports Windows Modern Standby Technology

Today, Xiaomi released interesting information, namely ‘RedmiBook 14 supports Windows Modern Standby technology’, at the same time explaining in detail the ‘modern standby’ function in the Redmi notebook.

Modern Standby is a form of computer sleep function. In the modern standby mode of the computer, its components are in a low-power state. So if the computer needs to be restored, the computer components will quickly return to the working state. The modern standby state provides the user with the same power control method as the smartphone.

Like a smartphone, with some media playback software that supports modern standby functions (such as the Groove music software included with Windows), it is still used to listen to music after closing the notebook screen.

Xiaomi said that in the case of modern standby, the music is played at the maximum volume of the Redmi notebook, playing for 12 hours continuously, and the power consumption will be only 36%.

Xiaomi also said that the modern standby computer wakes up faster. The power consumption in standby is similar to the traditional way, and also, it provides some new features, such as low-power playback of music, voice wake-up, etc. For example, the Redmi notebook supports voice wake-up using the Cortana assistant during sleep.

Xiaomi also recommended a specific way to test whether your computer supports modern standby. According to it: Press the keyboard combination of Win+R, enter ‘cmd’, and enter the ‘Powercfg /a’ command in the command line window to check the standby mode supported by the computer. If supported, it will display ‘S0 low battery standby’, while support for traditional standby mode will display ‘standby (S3)’.
