Samsung Smart Speaker Comes With Camera, Display, and 7 Mics

The smart speakers market is growing rapidly. Though the first models came our way from the US companies, the Chinese manufacturers have put a lot of effort to design competitive products. As a result, there are many smart speakers launched by both the Chinese and Western manufacturers. Honestly, the best model we have ever seen made for business purposes is the eMeet OfficeCore M2. It comes with 4 high sensitive MEMS digital microphones and is capable of catching the voice from any corner of the room. This product also supports AI voice commands. All these sound good, but we want something better. Seems, it will be provided by the South Korean tech giant. The manufacturer has granted patents for its upcoming smart speaker. The Samsung Smart Speaker is expected to launch at the event in New York on August 9. So we are expecting to see the new smart speaker there. Alternatively, it may release at IFA 2018 in early September with the Galaxy Tab S4.

Previously, we knew Samsung is going to release its own smart speaker with Bixby. Now, looking at the patent, we see the Samsung Smart Speaker is capable of rotating 360 degrees. But this is not a design element only. The product should be made of two parts. The bottom stand doesn’t move/rotate, while the upper side carries up to 7 microphones, a camera, a display, and rotates.

So when someone speaks, the Samsung Smart Speaker will automatically adjust its positioning so that the various microphones are facing the sound and can listen closely. Once the sound is caught up, it will capture the speaker’s face. If the person matches one of the profiles stored inside the speaker, it will automatically acknowledge them as the source of the sound.

As we said, there is also a small touchscreen, which can be utilized to display text, photos, or videos and recognizes various different gestures. This display also supports hover input via S Pen, just like Samsung’s Galaxy Note smartphones.
