Snapdragon 670 Renamed to Snapdragon 710

Qualcomm has been using the 10nm process node for high-end chips only. Say, you could see it on the Snapdragon 835 and 845 only. But recently, we have been hearing too much about the Snapdragon 670 mid-range SoC that is aiming at the lower-level products. According to the previous rumors, the SND670 will use a 2+6 architecture, and the first manufacturer to come in with smartphones packing this chip should be Xiaomi. However, XDA got a reliable information through code mining. According to it, the chip will be renamed to Snapdragon 710.

Snapdragon 710

The Snapdragon 700 series has been announced by Qualcomm back in February. According to Qualcomm’s digital nomenclature, it is positioned between the 800 Series and 600 Series SoCs, while enhancing AI performance and overall energy efficiency. Earlier, we have heard the first Snapdragon 700 line model will be the SND710. At the same time, two Xiaomi phones codenamed of ‘Comet’ and ‘Sirius’ also leaked with a Snapdragon 710 onboard showing a 2+6 CPU design. So, now everything gets clear.

As the chip’s leaked specs list shows, the Snapdragon 670 will have two large cores based on the ARM A75 and maybe named Kryo 300 Gold. The rest six cores are based on the ARM A55 (Kryo 300 Silver). The GPU should Adreno 615 with a frequency varying between 430MHz and 700MHz.

Getting back to the Xiaomi phones, the Xiaomi Comet is said to come with an OLED screen, Android 8.1, and 3100mAh battery, while the Xiaomi Sirius should come with an OLED display, Android 8.1, 3120mAh battery and many more. Those handsets’ specs lists do not support NFC. So there is every reason to think they are not ready and are still in the process of research and development. We think they refer to the Xiaomi Mi Note 4.
