But there are real differences. Most of you have seen the black version. Now we are going to quickly review the red variant, which also sports a Snapdragon 710 instead of Snapdragon 845. VIVO NEX Red Standard Edition Appearance

In terms of appearance, the biggest difference between the Snapdragon 710 version of the VIVO NEX and the higher version with a Snapdragon 845 is the location of the fingerprint scanner. As you should know, the Ultimate variant sports an on-screen fingerprint recognition. So there are no openings on front or back. As for the VIVO NEX Red Standard Edition, it comes with a rear-mounted regular fingerprint reader. At the same time, the front panel doesn’t differ from its sibling. Thus, it still uses a screen ratio of 91.24%, which is the second in the world.

Second, the phone uses a special coating that makes the red variant look way more beautiful than the black version. Thanks to various manufacturing processes, the VIVO NEX Red Standard Edition will reflect different shades of red under different light angles. The transition texture effect is really like holding a ruby in your hand. In addition, the metal frame part of the mobile phone has also been treated with high light, and the texture is also similar to the bottom glass. As a result, the high-gloss effect of the middle frame under the light is also dazzling.

The rest of the design elements of the VIVO NEX Red Standard Edition are the same as the rest the of models. So besides the true full-screen technology, there is a lifting camera, an independent Jovi artificial intelligence voice button, and a USB Type-C interface on the bottom.

VIVO NEX Red Standard Edition Hardware

In terms of hardware, the VIVO NEX Red Standard Edition is packed with a Snapdragon 710 chip. It’s the first model of the Snapdragon 700 series, and we have to state it is a good replacement for the original Snapdragon 600 series. Moreover, it inherits many key features of the Snapdragon 800 series. That’s why its performance is closer to the latter.

The Snapdragon 710 adopts the same second-generation 10nm LPP manufacturing process as the Snapdragon 845. The CPU adopts a Kryo 360 architecture, which comes with a 2 x performance core +6 x efficiency core design. The overall performance is improved by 35%. Plus, it supports Quick Charge+ fast charging technology. It can be said the Snapdragon 710 is the best choice for the next-generation flagship platform because it is second after the Snapdragon 800 series.

When it comes to the benchmarks, the Snapdragon 710 scores around 160.000 in AnTuTu, while the GeekBench results are 1744 and 5810 for the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. Of course, it can’t be compared with the Snapdragon 845’s result that is around 300.000, but it’s way better than the Snapdragon 660.

Currently, any flagship should be able to provide a good gaming performance. We understand the Snapdragon 710 can’t provide the same performance as the Snapdragon 845, but it still has chances to beat many of its rivals. As the screenshots below show, you won’t face any issues when playing heavy games on the VIVO NEX Red Standard Edition.

Verdict

We don’t talk about the photographing capabilities because they don’t differ from the Ultimate variant. So generally, we can state the VIVO NEX Red Standard Edition is a very competitive smartphone in the current market. It still uses the same pop-up front camera design to provide a genuine full-screen appearance. Under the hood, it carries Qualcomm’s second most powerful chip, which is capable of handling any task you set in front of it. But we also understand it differs from the higher model. The first difference is the overall integrity related to the back-mounted fingerprint scanner.
