The people of Wieppo, a specialist in this type of audio products, have sent us a pair of in-ear headphones, specifically the Rhythm R3D-890 and Rhythm R-990 models. Very similar in appearance, the first one is of higher quality and higher price. Both have behaved quite well considering also that its price is quite tight. Wieppo is still quite young on the market: in addition to the budget phones, Wieppo S6, for example, there are now two in-ear headphones: the Wieppo Rhythm R-990 and Wieppo Rhythm R3D-890! It is clear that a manufacturer does not want to restrict itself to just one category: it is customary for smartphone manufacturers to also offer accessories – a sales incentive is inherently given “it’s the original accessory”. The R990 comes with a special design: earplugs and cables are strikingly colorful – priced, they are listed far below for about $14. The R3D-890 should generate with 2 drivers per side particularly spatial sound, remain outwardly inconspicuous – but with $30 they are more than twice as expensive. Should the fresh manufacturer Wieppo initially concentrate better on its in-ears or are the Wieppo Rythm earphones good? Let’s see them in some details In the Review.

When the packaging is opened, a strong chemical scent flows out, which evaporates within an hour. The in-ears are securely packaged and both come with a microfiber bag for storage. The earplugs are of good quality: nice and soft and adapt to the ear. Both headphones also come with 4 pairs of earbuds (S, M, L, and XL) – with my Medium earbud L fit the best.
The R3D-890 from Wieppo are quite good in their feel: they use a thin and flexible ribbon cable (150cm long), which prevents tangling and cable noise. The 3.5mm jack is straight and very graceful. The visible part is made of black metal, above it is a cable break protection. In general, the cable protection is not convincing, because he does not look like he would permanently save the cable from the cable break and he is lovelessly incorporated – no glue and you can move in the version back and forth.
The sound of the body of the R3D-890 is convincing: black metal parts with shiny silver ornaments. The long body offers space for two drivers each but is a bit out of the ear.
The Wieppo R-990 are freaky and eye-catching. This is largely due to the colorful cable (150cm long), but also the two-tone orchestra. With the cheap in-ears, you have the choice between silver and gold as the main color. The jack plug is also straight and narrow here. The attached cable protection is harder than with the R3D-890 and works just as cheap.
The sound body is bent, so they sit better in the ear. At the end there is a golden or silver element – unfortunately, the edge here is very sharp and pointed; actually a no-go for earphones. Fortunately, nothing was noticed during testing. The processing is so-so, but for $14 in-ears okay.
The Wieppo earphones are based on the same control element, only one color is painted. You can feel the single button and control your smartphone reliably: 1x starts/stops the playback or accepts the call; 2x and you skip the song; Hold down and start your voice assistant or hang up the call. The microphone is pretty much standard, as you know it from other headphones in the price range up to 30 ¬. It is attached slightly below the mouth and thereby records conversation well. My interlocutors did not complain in principle, only sometimes it rustled something.
Of the good headphones from China for $30, you should expect a lot or right? The Wieppo Rhythm R3D-890 have a sound through all frequencies. The basses are particularly full and unusually clear and differentiated for in-ears. In mid and high frequencies, the sound is extremely vivid, therefore more detailed than most in-ears, but can therefore sometimes sound a bit bright, and high sounds (e.g from the drums) a little too strong in the foreground.
The metal earphones are still light enough, so they only hold on to the earplugs. Unfortunately, you do without it to adapt to the ear canal. So they protrude straight out of the ear and provide the cable with a longer lever to pull on the in-ears. The earplugs fit well in the ear.
The sound of the Wieppo Rhythm R-990 is surprisingly successful despite the low price. In the depth is clearly the strength of the Wieppo Rhythm R-990; It is quite good, though not quite as voluminous as with more expensive models. At higher frequencies, the headphones also provide a more than adequate service for their price. The music is generally quite plastic and balanced.
At first, I had reservations because there is a sharp edge on the housing. Luckily you do not notice it when wearing. The small Wieppo Rythm R-990 are lightweight and worn only by the rubber earplug. In addition, the curved shape adapts well to the ear. Unfortunately, despite the compact case, you can not love on the side with the Wieppo Rythm.
With the Rhythm R3D-890, Wieppo launches excellent in-ears at a $30. Full, exceptionally differentiated sound, noble design, high quality. Only small deductions in the B-note are to be noted, because the brightness of the sound with music of poorer quality is fatal. Otherwise highly recommended.
The Wieppo Rythm R-990 offer a good sound experience at a to-go price of only around $15. Although the functions are limited to the essentials, and the design is spectacular, the sound is surprisingly good, especially in bass-heavy music.
