Xiaomi Flip-Type Folding Screen Smartphone Patent Leaked

Yesterday, Motorola released its first folding screen smartphone. But if its competitors are using the horizontal flip design, the US-based manufacturer has decided to use a vertical flip approach. And as we knew before, this handset is based on the concept of the world’s coolest handset, the Motorola RAZR. This may become mainstream. Recently, China National Intellectual Property Office (CNIPA) has published a series of patent pictures, revealing Xiaomi’s plan for flip-type foldable smartphones. Although patents have become known only now, they were originally filed in August 2018. So there is every reason to think Xiaomi has been keeping in mind of designing a RAZR-like smartphone.  But there is still no information whether the Xiaomi flip-type folding screen smartphone is in works or not.

However, Xiaomi flip-type folding screen smartphone is different from the newly released Motorola RAZR 2019. The Xiaomi patent shows when folded, it has a square shape. And when you unfold it, the phone turns into a handset with a high aspect ratio display smartphone. There is a small rectangular display in the folded state and a dual camera on the outside. Above the internal screen, there is a top forehead and a front camera.

Although the patent application may differ a lot from the actual product, at least, it indicates the interest of Xiaomi in the manufacturing of similar products.

The foldable screen phone inspired hardware manufacturers to start creating a new look, a smartphone with a foldable display. The latest release of Motorola RAZR is different from Samsung Fold and Huawei Mate X. The phone is positioned on a folding smartphone while retaining the design and aesthetics of the iconic flip phone.

Xiaomi also announced the prototype phone with a double folding screen, but it was not officially released. In September of this year, Xiaomi officially announced the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha 5G concept phone. The screen accounted for 180.6%. As for other features, it supports dual card 5G, comes with a 100MP three-camera, and is priced at 19999 yuan ($2849). It is expected to be launched at the end of the month.
