Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Officially Announced at Starting 1799 Yuan
Today, at the Xiaomi Mi 8 launch event, the manufacturer also announced another phone named the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. It can be considered as the mini version of the company’s annual flagship. But there are many differences.
While the original Mi 8 comes with a 6.21-inch screen equivalent to the traditional 5.5-inch devices, the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE sports a 5.88-inch full-screen equivalent to the common 5.2-inch models. Despite the size differences, both use the same Samsung AMOLED material and a resolution of 2244×1080 pixels. The screen ratio is 18.7:9, while the screen share reaches 86.12%. It also supports P3 color gamut, 60000:1 contrast, and 600nit brightness.
The back uses a 2.5D glass body with an enamel mirror and a crystal texture. The body lines are tougher, neat and competent. There are four color options including a bright red, bright blue, gold, and dark gray.
In terms of configuration, the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 710-powered device. It’s the first 10nm processor but the Snapdragon 845. The AnTuTu score reaches 170,000 points. Moreover, the Snapdragon 710 AI is twice as powerful as the Snapdragon 660. It is equipped with the same third-generation Kryo CPU as the Snapdragon 845, the Adreno 6 series GPU, the second-generation Spectre ISP, the Hexagon 685 DSP, the X15 LTE baseband, Bluetooth 5.0, and 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and a 3120mAh battery. The chip is paired with a 4/6GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM. It runs on MIUI10.
On the back, it carries a 12MP+5MP dual-camera with 1.4-micron large pixels, dual-core focus, 206 scenes AI recognition, and portrait mode support. There is a 20MP front camera coming with a low-light self-timer, night self-timer, 2 microns 4-in-1 superpixels, AI single shot blur, and 10 scenes AI recognition.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE will be selling at 1799 Yuan, which is around $280, for the 4GB+64GB version and 1999 Yuan (about $310) for the model with 6GB of RAM.
