Xiaomi Mijia Smart IP Camera (1080p) review
A really good product, with some glitches but nothing of unacceptable! So, let’s show the Xiaomi Mijia 1080p Smart IP Camera for which I have to thank Gearbest to have sent this sample to test!
Box and Specs
The new Xiaomi camera will be send into a well made, white and marked “Mijia” box. In the package you will find the IP Camera – obviously! -, a Chinese power supply and …no more.
For this reason I had some difficulties to pair this device to its own app, Mi Home …but we will talk about it later.
Mijia IP Camera looks really small and compact, and its design lets it to be very discrete when you will put it on a table or behind another device. I put it behind my TV and noone noticed the camera.
So… 8.20 x 8.20 x 11.50 cm , with very interesting specs! Let’s see them.

- Support WiFi connection, realize 10m remote control (but you will be able to control it also by data)
- Dual-band WiFi: 2.4GHz / 5GHz
- Built-in mic and speaker, support two-way intercom
- Support night vision, IR distance is up to 10m
- Motion detection, up to 15m distance, and zone sensibility settings
- Floating notifications from app Mi Home
- Smart recognition and automatically sleep
Pairing on Mi Home
Maybe this one will be the only problem I encountered on this device. But, I must notice that!, after pairing, I had no problems anymore!
After the camera will be properly paired with your Mi Home, we can set every condition we want. You can choose to activate it when you go out and to de-activate it when you will be back simply with a quick home button. Really useful!
Use and Security
After a test week, I can say properly Xiaomi made a great job with Mijia partnership. I got every notification on my smartphone when I was away and promptly I could check what happened.
Among the functions of the Xiaomi IP Camera, noticeable is the “hold to speak” and the automatism. So you can talk to your girlfriend – or joke her! eh eh! – when you are not at home and …she would be scared by the Paranormal Activity of the Xiaomi Camera! I’m a bad guy, I know.
Despite of jokes, Xiaomi Camera is a great product but it has just one flaw… It has no battery inside itself so you will need of a supplier any time you would use it! Personally I connected it at my TV Box but, when it remains connected long, Camera will reach an high temperature.
I don’t know and I could not understand if there was a problem with cable or connection.
Thanks again to Gearbest to have sent us this sample, I will remark that Xiaomi made a great job with this IP Security Camera and so I will suggest it to you all if you need a good way to check your home or your room when you’re not there!
