Xiaomi Redmi 5 Black Goes on Sale

On December 7, Xiaomi announced a new bunch of full-screen smartphones in face of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. These handsets come with an identical design, but there are many differences as well. Say the lower variant is the first Snapdragon 450-powered device, while the Redmi 5 Plus sports a Snapdragon 625. Anyway, the starting price of the original mode was set 799 yuan ($121) that makes it be the most cost-effective full-screen smartphone around the globe. All these are very interesting, but until today we haven’t seen the most common color option. This afternoon the company announced the black variant of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 at a starting price of 799 yuan.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is packed with a 5.7-inch screen providing an HD+ resolution (1440×720 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Apart from this, we can also find a Snapdragon 450 chip paired with a 2/3GB of RAM as well as a 16/32GB of internal storage. There is also a 3300mAh battery, a 12MP rear camera with a 1.25 μm pixel size, and a 5MP front camera supporting Smart beauty 3.0.

Though it comes with a metal housing, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 has strengthened corners for a better anti-shock effect.

By the way, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus sports a 5.99-inch screen with a Full HD+ resolution, Snapdragon 625 chip, 3+32GB and 4+64GB memory combinations, 4000mAh battery, a 12MP rear camera with a 1.25um pixel size, and a 5MP shooter on the front supporting Smart Beauty 3.0.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 black comes with the same price tags and features as the rest of color options including the gold, light blue, and rose gold. Thus the 16GB version paired with a 2GB of RAM is priced at 799 yuan, while the 3+32GB version is available for 899 yuan ($137).
