Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Benchmark Results Are Equal To Snapdragon 820
On February 14, Xiaomi announced two new models for the Indian market. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro were uncovered the best mid-range devices when it comes to the price-over-hardware ratio. But if Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is something new, the former one is the well-known Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus. Today, they went on sale at a price tag of 9999 rupees ($154) and 13999 rupees ($215) for the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, respectively.
Both models come with a 5.99-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9, 4000mAh battery, and MIUI9 based on Android 7.1.1. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro also comes with the world’s first Snapdragon 636 chip, which uses an octa-core Kryo 260 CPU architecture. There are four large A73 cores and four small A53 cores. It runs on a 14nm process node and clocks at 1.8GHz. This SoC is paired with an Adreno 509 GPU and supports Bluetooth 5.0.
As we are dealing with the first handset around the globe sporting this chip, it’s quite interesting to take a look at the AnTuTu Benchmark v7.0.4 results. As the screenshots below show, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro scores 112.600, which is almost equal to the Snapdragon 820 found on the Xiaomi Mi 5 and yields the Snapdragon 660 by 19% only.
As for the Basemark tests, its overall points are almost identical to the Snapdragon 820. Although it yields a lot in terms of graphics performance. The same is true even for the Google Octane and JetStream benchmarks.
