As scheduled, today two awesome smartphones were launched in India. But if the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is the well-known Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is a quite new model. As Xiaomi explains, they have chosen another name for the Redmi Note 5 because the brand identity in the local market is even higher. Anyway, let’s get acquainted with their key features. Undoubtedly, there are too many attractive features. Say, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first phone with a Snapdragon 636 chip. Plus, it is the first Redmi-series phone with a dual-camera.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Features

As we said, it’s packed with a Snapdragon 636 chip that scores about 120K at AnTuTu. This is a mid-range SoC using 8 Kryo 26 CPU cores architecture and running on a 14nm process node. Therefore, the power consumption is at a good level. Apart from this, the chip is paired with an Adreno 509 GPU. As the chip maker claims, the CPU performance was improved by 40%, while the GPU performance is up to 10% in comparison to the Snapdragon 630. Plus, it comes with an integrated X12 baseband (600Mbps) and screen optimization features.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is also the first Redmi phone to come with a 6GB LPDDR4X RAM. There is also a 4GB RAM variant, but both models are packed with a 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded via the microSD card slot.

The rest of features include a 20MP (Sony IMX376) front camera with a LED flashlight, while there is a dual-camera on the back using a 12+5MP sensors combination. Of course, we are dealing with a 5.99-inch full-screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9 similar to the Redmi Note 5 (2160×1080 pixels). There is a 4000mAh battery, micro USB port, and a fingerprint scanner mounted on the back.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is priced at 12.999 rupees ($219) and 16.999 rupees ($265) for the 4+64GB and 6+64GB variants, respectively. At the same time, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (Plus) is offered at 9.999 rupees ($156) and 11.999 rupees ($187) for the 3+32GB and 4+64GB variants, respectively.
