Xiaomi Released Mi 8 Youth Edition and Many Other Products

Today, Xiaomi held a new product launch conference and announced a few products, just what we had been waiting for and more. Say, there were the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition and the Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Screen. Plus, there was the Xiaomi Xiao AI Smart Alarm Clock. But we didn’t know the company will bring the Xiaomi Notebook Youth Edition and the Xiaomi Half In-Ear Type-C Headphones. Let’s get acquainted with them in details.

Probably, the most anticipated product of this event was the Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint version. In comparison to the original model, it supports a pressure sensitive screen fingerprint recognition. As the name suggests, there is a built-in high-sensitivity pressure sensor that gives finger vibration feedback while increasing the unlock rate. At the same time, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Version also comes with the infrared face unlock function. Thus, this phone supports the most innovative unlocking functions available on the market. According to Xiaomi, this set of screen fingerprint modules is better than the Explorer Edition. The unlocking speed is increased by 29% and the unlocking success rate is increased by 8.8%.

The rest of the features remain the same. Thus, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Version comes with a 6.21-inch notch AMOLED screen that has a Full HD+ resolution and is supplied by Samsung. Under the hood, it carries a Snapdragon 845 chip, paired with an LPDDR4X memory and a UFS flash storage. On the back, it sports a dual-camera, using 12MP wide-angle and 12MP telephoto sensors. The former one is the Sony IMX363, which comes with a unit pixel area of 1.4μm and supports dual PD dual-core focus, four-axis optical image stabilization and more. A 20MP camera is placed on the front. Finally, it is equipped with a 3400mAh battery.

Not in vain, the company compared this handset with the Apple iPhone XR. The latter has a 35.2mm bangs area, while the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition’s notch part is 19.4mm. At the same time, the frame is narrower, only 1.95mm, and the body is slimmer, 7.5mm.

However, the selling point of the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition is going to be the mirror glass back, which has been used in a Mi phone for the first time. Its design is inspired by the works of an impressionist, Claude Monet. There are three color options of dream blue, twilight gold, and deep gray (monotone). The Mi 8 Lite uses the same vacuum nano-sputtering process as the flagship phones such as the Huawei P20. It produces a mirror effect on the glass.

Another selling point of the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition is its photographing features. The phone comes with a 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor placed in the front. It supports various AI options such as AI portrait mode, AI scene camera, AI makeup beauty, AI video beauty, and automatic HDR.

As for the rest of core features, we can mention the 6.26-inch full-screen, a Snapdragon 660 AIE processor, 3350mAh battery supporting QC3.0 fast charging, and a 12MP rear camera (1.4μm pixel size, dual-core focus, f/1.9 aperture), which is accompanied by a 5MP secondary sensor. The latter is identical to the original Mi 8. It has a 12-to-0 advantage for the Huawei P20 in the AI scene recognition. Of course, this handset supports Xiao AI voice assistant.
