Xiaomi’s Overseas Market Demand to Exceed Domestic Market Demand

The Chinese market is the biggest in the world. But there are too many manufacturers as well. So we can also state this is the most saturated market around the globe. This is one of the main reasons why many smartphone makers have started to go abroad. Moreover, the top Chinese brands occupy the regions they land on. Xiaomi is the best example of that. A few years back, this brand was popular only in the domestic market. But yesterday, when Counterpoint published a report concerning the smartphones shipments in the Q4, 2017, it became known Xiaomi has outrun all of its competitors and leads the list. If this trend continues, Xiaomi’s overseas demand should exceed the domestic one in the nearest future.

Earlier today, the abovementioned research company announced the Q4 results for the Indian market. According to it, Xiaomi takes 25% of the market, while Samsung has fallen behind with a 23% of market share. Moreover, other Chinese brands such as VIVO and OPPO are in the top 5 as well. In addition to this Bin Lin, Co-founder and President of Xiaomi said in an interview that Xiaomi’s overseas market growth rate exceeded their imagination. What’s more interesting, the growth rate in the international market has not slowed down yet. So if the momentum continues, the overseas market demand will exceed the Chinese market demand.

He also revealed their vision concerning the development of Xiaomi’s hardware and ecological chain. He said that they have been investing much in cloud computing, voice recognition, and image recognition based on big data. And now he can say Xiaomi is optimistic about AI on smartphones. Why smartphones? Nowadays, almost everyone owns a smartphone, and this is the shortest way to bring innovations to more consumers.
