Xiaomi’s Second 5G Smartphone Is The First In China
On August 22, a few China’s committees jointly hosted the second forum of the People’s Republic of China. As one of the five invited entrepreneurs, Lei Jun, founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group, shared his ideas with users. He said: ‘I am very honored to be a representative of a private enterprise and participate in today’s activities. First of all, I would like to share the good news: Xiaomi has experienced 9 years of hard work, and last year’s revenue reached 174.9 billion yuan ($24.65 billion), entering the Fortune Global 500 for the first time, and become the youngest of the top 500 companies in history. We have made great efforts to present the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.” When talking about 5G, Lei Jun revealed that Xiaomi’s first 5G smartphone was launched in Europe in May this year, and the second one is about to debut in China.
In Lei Jun’s view, 5G is a major opportunity for smartphone companies. So Xiaomi began preparing for the pre-research of various 5G technologies three years ago. Now that 5G is just beginning to kick off, the laying of 5G networks and the popularization of 5G terminals will come on a large scale in the second quarter of next year.
‘In the coming year, 5G will bring earth-shaking changes in the fields of communication, mobile Internet and Internet of Things. For Xiaomi, it is necessary to actively embrace this change and increase investment in technology, especially the 5G smartphones. We should control cost well,’ Lei Jun said.
As a reminder, the first Xiaomi 5G smartphone is the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G version. But we are more interested in the second model, which is considered to be the Xiaomi Mi 9S 5G. It will hit the market next week.
