ASUS ROG Gaming Phone 2 Released With Snapdragon 855 Plus

This afternoon, ASUSTEK held a new product launch conference and officially released the ROG Gaming Phone 2.

This is the first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus mobile platform. As you should know, it’s the enhanced variant of the original chip. The CPU frequency has been increased to 2.96GHz, while the graphics performance is improved by 15%. The addition of UFS 3.0 also brought a certain speed increase.

In order to further explore the performance, the ROG Gaming Phone 2 adopts a new matrix liquid cooling system and supports an external cooling fan 2. They further reduce body temperature and make the performance more durable.

Apart from the great cooling system, any gaming phone also should sport a large battery for longer performance. The ROG Gaming Phone 2 is equipped with a 6000mAh high-capacity battery and supports QC4/PD fast charging (up to 30W). With the help of ROG HyperCharge direct charging technology, the phone can always stay calm while charging.

On the front, this smartphone is packed with an AMOLED gaming screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a response time of 1ms. The screen size is 6.59 inches and supports 10-bit HDR.

As a gaming smartphone, the ROG Gaming Phone 2 also comes with Air Triggers button, dual speaker + four microphones design, 4 WiFi antennas, intelligent control center and other elements.

On the back, it carries a dual camera. The main camera is the Sony IMX586, which has a 48MP resolution. The secondary lens has a 13MP resolution. For clear and beautiful selfies, there is a 24MP front-facing camera.

There are 4 versions. The Tencent game custom elite version (8 + 128GB) costs 3499 yuan ($509). The classic version (12 + 512GB) is priced at 5999 yuan ($872). The extreme version’s price is 7999 yuan ($1163). And the e-sports armor variant is at 12,999 yuan ($1890).
