Binwen A8 HUD: headUp display, unboxing and review

HUD is an acronym for “Head Up Display”, this kind of gadgets are not new in town, the origin of the name stems from a pilot being able to view information with the head positioned “up” and looking forward, instead of angled down looking at lower instruments. A HUD also has the advantage that the pilot’s eyes do not need to refocus to view the outside after looking at the optically nearer instruments.

Although they were initially developed for military aviation, HUDs are now used in commercial aircraft, automobiles and other, mostly professional applications.

And today Binwen brings us this cool gizmo for our automobiles, you can use it for many reasons; if one of the gauges stop working, temperature, and you don’t want to spend lot of money to replace it just plug the HUD to see water temperature in your windshield.

Unboxing
Nice package cartbox made. Inside came the HUD, windshield reflector, antislip pad, ODBII to miniUSB cable and instructions. It came with all you need.

My experience
First, this gauge cluster is plastic made then is very light, so you have to use the antislip pad, is powered directly from the ODBII port of the car, it has three i/o a USB port for communication and power, a power switch and a dial to navigate the menu.

Second, lets talk about the functions, with this little device you can find lot of info displayed in your windshield, easily it can replace your dashboard gauges.
Check all the meters in this image:

As you can see in the next picture, it package all the info nice and clear, it reminds me to those instrument panel that motorcycles have.
