From time to time I check various gadgets that I see around the internet, just to see and something new apart from my Xiaomi Mi Band 2. The Makibes M88 is a smartband that except from all characteristics that you can find in now days, you can also measure your blood pressure, a feature that for sure is unique. As a doctor, I know that many people have problem with their blood pressure, so a feature like this is very useful and important at the same time! The Makibes M88 Smartband came to me with SF Express, so if you live in Europe, you don’t have fear for customs. Came to me in a well protected package. Opening the package, inside I found a black slim box. At the one side of the box you could see an drawing of the Makibes M88. At the opposite side, you can read all the specs that the M88 has. At the one side you can also see all features that has, in icons.

Opening the box, inside in a nice package you can see the Makibes M88 itself, with the chargere next to it and a manual in English and Chinese. In the manual is very detailed, as you can read there all the functions and features that the M88 has. There also with the help of the QR code, you will find from where you must download the app that you must install in your mobile, in order to read all the recorded data from the smartband.

To me, after installing the app that I downloaded from the link given above, it told me that there is an update. This is a good sign, as the company shows that cares for its creations and tries to improve and correct any mistakes.

After finishing the installation of the update, you will be ready to use the app. Starting, the first time you will be asked to make an account, in order to keep there all recorded data.

Entering the app, you see that is divided in three sections. The first section, shows you all information from measuring the steps, sleep, heart beats and blood pressure. At the end of the page, you will see two buttons. The right button is used for measuring your blood pressure, by activating the menu for it. The left button is for measuring your heart beats. Of course you can do the same thing and from the smartband, by entering the correct screen and pressing the button that has. You can see everything how works and how you can set it at the end of the article, at the video given. In the second page, you can find everything that someones who runs, wants. Since I’m not that a running type, I don’t have much to say about this section. In the third page you can add all your personal info that the app needs, in order to make the needed calculations, in order to have the best result.

But let us see the specs of the Makibes M88 Smartband. The Makibes M88 comes with the Nordic nRF51822 chipset. Equipped with 32K RAM and 256K ROM, so the smartband can store a lot of data without any problem. For the heart beats, uses one of the most reliable sensors, the Kionix KXTJ2-1009 PD70-01C-TR7. In the video you will see that comparing it with my Xiaomi Mi band 2, shows the same heart beats. The M88 is equipped with Gsensor Three axis MEMS and uses Bluetooth V4.0 to connect with your mobile. The Makibes M88 comes with a big 0.86 inch OLED screen that at the lower part of it, is an invisible button that you use it to change screens or activate an option. If for example want to measure your heart beats or your blood pressure, you go to the mentioned screen and press gently the button. The measuring will start. Also, you can set if the text will be lying down or standing up or close it completely if you go to the last screen and press the button. You can activate it back by gently pressing the button for 4 sec. The Makibes M88 supports the following features: Phone call reminder, Message push, Heart rate monitor, Blood pressure monitor, Pedometer, measuring the distance, calories burnt, sedentary reminder, sleep monitor, alarm clock.

As for battery, comes with a 90mAh lithium-polymer (Mi Band 2 has only 70mAh). It has IP67 rating, which means that is waterproof. The M88 weights only 25g and the length of the strap is 220mm. The body of the M88 is made out of plastic and is one body, meaning that when you want to charge it, you don’t pull out the main body, but you connect it all with the charger.

From what I see, the Makibes M88 Smartband looks to be a very good gadget. Apart from the smartband functions that nowadays you can find in all smartbands, the feature that has for measuring the blood pressure, is something very important, specially if you have high blood pressure or heart issues in general.
