Full Review of Xiaomi Redmi 4X vs Redmi 4A vs Redmi 4 vs Redmi 4 Prime

Xiaomi has finished the announcement about its own pinecone surge s1 processor, Xiaomi MI5C and Xiaomi Redmi 4X. Right now in Xiaomi MI5 series, they have released MI5, MI5S, MI5C, in Redmi Note 4 series, they also released Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4X, and in Redmi 4 series, they also announce Redmi 4, Redmi 4X, Redmi 4A, and Redmi 4 Prime. In redmi 4 series, they are all budget smartphone less than $200, but do you know what’s their difference and which one you should choose?

Design

They all have 5 inch screen which can be held in one hand comfortably. The main difference is in their resolution. Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4X all have 720P screen, but Redmi 4 Prime enjoys 1080p screen. Therefore, they also have difference between PPI, the formers have 294 PPI, the latter has 441PPI.

According to main comparison, if you have higher needs about watching videos clearly, we highly recommend this Redmi 4 Prime, otherwise, Redmi 4, 4A and 4X with cheaper price can be fine.

Hardware

Xiaomi Redmi 4 series are all powered by Qualcomm processor, the Redmi 4A comes with Snapdragon 425 quad-core, Adreno 308 GPU, Redmi 4 with Snapdragon 430, octa-core chips clocked at 1.4GHz, Adreno 505 GPU, Redmi 4X with Snapdragon 435, octa-core chips clocked at 1.4GHz, Adreno 505 GPU, and Redmi 4 Prime with the most popular processor, Snapdragon 625 Octa  ARM Cortex-A53 cpu cores at up to 2 GHz, an Adreno 506 GPU. Redmi 4 Prime is similar to Redmi Note 4X in screen. You can check their Antutu test to prove which one is better according to their comprehensive performance. Of course, Redmi 4 Prime is the best and most powerful one.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 has RAM 2GB ROM 16GB internal storage. Redmi 4X has two versions, RAM 2GB ROM 16GB, and RAM 3GB ROM 32GB. But Redmi 4 Prime only has RAM 3GB ROM 32GB internal storage. They all can be expandable to 128GB by a microSD card. If you want larger RAM, we recommend this Redmi 4X or Redmi 4 Prime. Of course, the price will be highly accordingly.

Cameras

Redmi 4 line all uses 13MP rear camera and 5MP back camera. The main difference is that Redmi 4X has f/2.0 aperture for rear camera, but others have f2.2. Therefore, they have no big difference in their camera.

Battery

Redmi 4, 4X and 4 Prime all are built in 4,100mAh battery, but Redmi 4A as a cheaper smartphone has only 3,120mAh battery. Due to their same screen, the formers should have similar battery life, but Redmi 4A has some gap compared with other three.

Conclusions

They all can support fingerprint scanner below $200 on the back, only Redmi 4A doesn’t support it. Right now they all are on sale. Redmi 4A sells ¥599 (~$87), Redmi 4 at ¥699 (~$102), Redmi 4X 2GB RAM+ 16GB ROM at ¥699 (~$102), 3GB RAM + 32GB at ¥899 (~$131), Redmi 4 Prime at ¥899 (~$131) according to official price. In all, Redmi 4A is the cheapest smartphone in this line with smaller battery and lack of fingerprint scanner, Redmi 4 is the advanced version of Redmi 4A with better battery and fingerprint scanner. Redmi 4X is more powerful for its processor from LTE speeds than other two, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A, and Redmi 4 Prime is most powerful smartphone in terms of processor, of course higher price.
