Huawei Maimang 7 Unboxing: The Chinese Variant of Mate 20 Lite

Before the launch of the Mate 10 last year, Huawei took the lead in releasing its first full-screen smartphone, the Huawei Maimang 6. It also was the first quad-camera smartphone of the company. After a year, the Huawei Maimang 7 was officially released today, priced at 2,399 yuan ($349). Before we start getting acquainted with its key features and take a look at its appearance, you should know this is the same Huawei Mate 20 Lite but for the Chinese market.

Made of a polished metal frame with glass back, the inexpensive Maimang 7 offers a number of convincing upgrades over its predecessor. Say, it is packed with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display that comes with a notch. Under the hood, it carries a Kirin 710 chip, which has been made to compete with Qualcomm’s pseudo-flagship chip, namely the Snapdragon 710. However, unlike the Mate 20 Lite on offer in Europe, the Huawei Maimang 7 combines a 6GB RAM with 64GB of storage. But it still supports GPU Turbo and Google AR Core. There is also a 3,750mAh battery.

The Huawei Maimang 7 comes with a 24MP+2MP front camera, which supports HDR Pro, more clear backlight, independent DSP + ISP, newly upgraded AI beauty algorithm, identification of 8 category scenes, and 3D Qmoji emoticon pack to add fun to your photos. On the back, we can find a 20MP+2MP dual-camera with a F/1.8 large aperture, automatically AI recognition of 22 category images and 500+ scenes, intelligent photo composition guide, 480fps slow-motion video recording, and many more.

Based on Android 8.1.0 with EMUI 8.2, the device comes in at 156.2 x 75.2 x 7.5mm and weighing in at 164g, with Hybrid Dual SIM support, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C.
