OPPO R15 Announced: Comes With Many Innovations

On the morning of March 19, OPPO held a new media communication meeting in Beijing to preheat its full-screen R15. The OPPO R15 is priced at 2999 yuan (Snow white, Hot red, and Purple Star), the OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Version (Red Dream) at 3299 yuan, the OPPO R15 Dream Mirror (Ceramic Black) at 3499 yuan. This new phone will officially go on sale on April 1.

Prior to this, the appearance and specifications of OPPO R15 have been fully exposed. It was jointly designed by U.S. industrial design superstar and color master, Karim Rashid. It’s the world’s first phone to come with a 6.28-inch Super-V Display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Apart from this, the phone adopts a double-sided glass design. The left and right frames have been narrowed to 1.78mm. As a result, the screen ratio reached 90%.

In terms of configuration, the OPPO R15 is equipped with MediaTek’s first AI processor, Helio P60 based on a 12nm FinFET process node and using an octa-core architecture (4xA73+4xA53) clocked at 2.0Hz. The chip is paired with a 6GB RAM, 128GB native storage, and a built-in 3450mAh capacity battery supporting VOOC flash charge technology.

On the front, the OPPO R15 carries a 20MP camera with a 3-HDR hardware real-time classification exposure technology that greatly enhances the self-portraits. It is capable of accurately collecting 296 face feature points and supports AI intelligent optimization. On the back, it has a 16MP (f/1.7 aperture) + 5MP (f/2.2 aperture) dual-camera using a Sony IMX519 sensor. The latter comes with a 1.22μm large pixel size and a 1/2.6 inch unit area. It supports an AI portrait mode.

The OPPO R15 comes with a new ColorOS 5.0 system out of the box. It has a few new features such as a multi-tasking landscape mode, the 3 frequently used apps on the top two sides of the screen and 3 shortcuts (recording, screen capture, and DND).
