Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence Innovation Forum on May 24

Qualcomm is a leading chip maker. The Chinese manufacturers are its closest partners. In this sense, Qualcomm should pay more attention to this market and the China-based smartphone vendors. Actually, it does. Yesterday morning, Qualcomm China announced that it will hold the Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence Innovation Forum on May 24. The company will work with partners to see the potential of the AI’s new generation.

Who are these partners? Though there are myriads of Chinese manufacturers using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, most of them use the regular low-end and mid-range SoCs that have nothing in common with artificial intelligence. This morning, Black Shark Technology and Hammer Technology took the initiative to claim their identity and confirmed that they will be there.

Black Shark and Hammer have used Qualcomm’s latest flagship mobile platform of the Snapdragon 845 in their premium phones. The Black Shark’s advantage among others is related to the use of this chip. The same is true for the newly-launched revolutionary smartphone, the Smartisan Nut R1.

Apart from these two Chinese manufacturers, Xiaomi and OnePlus are using Qualcomm’s AI chips as well. The Snapdragon 845 has appeared on the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, while the Mi 6X comes with a Snapdragon 660 AIE. But they haven’t made any announcement yet. Probably, it’s conditioned with the facts Xiaomi will hold a conference on May 31 to launch the Xiaomi Mi 8, while the OnePlus 6 has gone on sale this morning. In order to avoid dispersion of traffic, they may choose to announce the relevant information only tomorrow.
