Review of Meizu M5 Note VS Xiaomi Redmi 4 Snapdragon 625 Design, Antutu, Camera, Battery

Yesterday Meizu has released Meizu M5 Note as the continued model of Meizu M3 Note, Meizu M5 Note still can be a high-competitive smartphone at the affordable price below $200. Xiaomi also released the cost-effective smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi 4, they both have much similarities in hardware and price, so which one will win, Meizu M5 Note or Xiaomi Redmi 4?

Design

Meizu M5 Note uses all metal bdoy, nano molding. It adopts sand blasting technology on the metal surface with pretty good gripping feeling, All interfaces are integrated at the bottom, Meizu M5 Note still uses Micro USB port, which is relative to quick charge to some extent. It’s worthwhile to mention the the port of speaker uses the lines design to amaze us. The front design uses 5.5 inch screen size with exquisite 2.5D glass to make it look like a flagship smartphone. Under the screen is the mTouch and mBack home button.

Xiaomi Redmi 4ontinues the style of Redmi note 4, the pure panel looks very simple and steady. It comes with 2.5D curved glass, the touch feeling and design has been improved greatly, better than Redmi 3 in quality and beauty. It has 5 inch FHD IPS screen, the front top design is the light sensor, proximity sensor, receiver and 5MP front camera, the hidden notification light will be on when it is charging or get information. The front bottom has three visual buttons. The back uses all metal body with 30 processing sand blasting to show sleek and smooth design, not easy to get the fingerprint. The 13MP back camera has not stood out, put in the middle with fingerprint module. It has processed the CNC high gloss diamond cutting to show the streamline, on the top is the 3.5mm earphone jack and de-noise microphone, and IR remote sensor, at the bottom is the Micro USB port to support 5V/2A quick charge and OTG charging.

Hardware

Meizu M5 Note still uses Helio P10 Octa core processor, coming with RAM 4GB ROM 16GB/32GB/64GB internal storage. After one day use, Meizu M5 Note has got 47,290 points from Antutu V6.2.9 version.

However,  Redmi 4 Advanced version uses Snapdragon 625 Octa core 14nm A53 architecture 2.0GHz, Adreno 506 GPU, which makes it reduce largely in power consumption and heat, the performance has also been improved to some degree. In test, Redmi 4 Snapdragon 625 shows its normal level, it has got 62,045 points, 12,753 points in 3D mark, and 832 points in single core and 2961 points in multi core in Geekbench 4 test.

Therefore, Redmi 4 Snapdragon 625 version has beaten Meizu M5 Note in performance.

Meizu M5 Note has 13MP Back camera with dual tone LED, supporting PDAF, and it has 5MP front camera to support beautification mode. Although it has not 20MP dual camera, the picture quality makes us satisfied in fact. Let’s see the real samples above.

However, Redmi 4 also uses 13MP back camera with 5P Lens, F/2.2 aperture and dual Tone LED flash, it supports PDAF for fast focusing. Therefore, Meizu M5 Note should have similar nice effect to Xiaomi Redmi 4 in their own camera.

Battery

Let’s compare them in their battery life, Meizu M5 Note only has 8.1mm thickness, but it comes with 4,000mAh big battery. It supports the new generation quick charge, according to official, when the power rate reaches 18W, it can be charged in one and a half hour. The USB cable of Standard version is more solid than the normal cable.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Snapdragon 625 version uses 4100mAh big battery, it runs MIUI 8 OS to support power saving optimization to increase the battery life and reduce the heat to keep the phone run smoothly. According to Antutu battery test, Redmi 4 only consumes 2 hours and 35 minutes in all under connecting 4G network. It has got 18146 points, excellent compared with similar price phones. It can also support OTG to charge for other smartphones, and 5V/2A quick charge which can be charged full very fast.

Therefore, Meizu M5 Note only has 100mAh battery gap, they will have no big difference in battery life and charging time.

Other Features

Meizu M5 Note runs the latest Flyme 6 OS, but Xiaomi Redmi 4 operates MIUI 8 OS, Meizu M5 Note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 supports 4G network, Dual SIM card, dual standby, fingerprint scanner, they both have much similarity in features.

According to conclusion, Meizu M5 Note  and Xiaomi Redmi 4 Snapdragon 625 edition has no big difference in design, camera, battery and other features, but only a little gap in their performance, it has proved Snapdragon 625 processor of Redmi 4 can win Helio P10 of Meizu M5 Note. Therefore, Xiaomi Redmi 4  has more price advantage. Right now you will know which one is better.
