Review of the Gatekeeper 2.0 (With real photos and video presentation)

Only very recently I obtained the Gatekeeper 2.0 from Amazon. I was searching for something to keep my computer safe from the foreign eyes at my work and only I to be able to work with it, but with an easy way. Don’t forget we live in the 21st Century. Gatekeeper 2.0 was the solution for my problem. So let us see how it solve it.

The Gatekeeper 2.0 came to me by air mail with a tracking number of course. It came fast and when it arrived, the main box was protected in the usual bubble protective film, so it came unharmed. Removing all this protection came across the actual box of the Gatekeeper 2.0. The box was from a luxurious paper, with the photo of the Gatekeeper and what it does from the one side and the url of the company at the other side.

Opening the box, inside it we find first the Gatekeeper 2.0 key it self and under it a manual in English, a Lanyard for hanging there your Gatekeeper, a keyring, a CR 2032 battery for the Gatekeeper 2.0 in order to function and finally the Gatekeeper USB lock.

The manual is written in plain English, so you won’t have any problem reading it and understanding it. The information given inside it is very important how to operate the Gatekeeper 2.0, so better have a look at it before continuing with the installation of the Gatekeeper lock key.

Gatekeeper 2.0 key

The Gatekeeper 2.0 is a really small key, that you can carry it with your keys or you can use the special lanyard that comes with. The first thing that you must do is insert the battery that comes with the gatekeeper. How to do it is very easy, as it is shown in the manual. All you have to do is slide down the back of the Gatekeeper 2.0, to reveal the compartment for the battery

The second thing that you must do is insert the Gatekeeper USB lock to any USB slot at your laptop or PC computer. You will hear the well known sound from your PC that a USB device was inserted, wait a minute and then approach the Gatekeeper 2.0 key to it, you will see a light blinking on the Gatekeeper 2.0 key and after it finishes you are all ready, the match has been done.

In order Gatekeeper 2.0 to work, you must first download and install at the PC you want to protect, an application from the site of the company. The application runs in Windows 32 bit, 64bit and MacOs. After downloading and installing the app, the screen that you see is the following.

Usage of Gatekeeper 2.0

The application gives you some options how you can use the Gatekeeper 2.0. A option is not to use the Gatekeeper and still login using the password option of the Windows. The Second option is to automatically login using the Gatekeeper. This option I have enabled at the Video demonstration you can see at the end of this review. The third option is to use a button that has at the side of Gatekeeper and to use Gatekeeper and PIN. When installing the app, at some point asks you to set a 4 digit number pin for enabling this extra feature. You can skip this part if you are not interested. In the video you will see that you can lock your Windows by pressing the button that is on the side of the Gatekeeper 2.0 or if you get away from your PC. You can set at what distance your Gatekeeper will lock and unlock your PC. Yes by moving close to your PC, holding the Gatekeeper, the PC unlocks automatically. Of course you can set to ask and PIN if you want. In case someone removes your Gatekeeper USB lock, the windows return in the previous state and you can log-in only if you type down your password.
