On February 26, at the MWC 2018, two new smartphones in face of the Sony Xperia XZ2 and Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact were announced. The selling point of these handsets is their design and the new camera. The latter is the world’s first camera to support 4K HDR video recording with a 1080P 960-frame slow motion. Today, PhoneArena came in with the assumed prices of these awesome handsets. According to the source, the regular model should cost 800 euros, while the Compact will be priced at 600 euros.
The information comes from Sony Germany, so there is every reason to believe in it. But if so, it means the Sony Xperia XZ2 is priced 100 euros higher than the XZ1 launched in 2017. This makes us assume the Chinese version will be priced at 5300 yuan instead of last year’s 4699 yuan. However, at the same time, the source claims the Compact’s pricing will remain at 600 euros.
All these information caused a lot of assumptions. People think the US price tags of the Sony Xperia XZ2 will be increased by $100 and reach $800 instead of $700. But as the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact’s price will remain unchanged in Europe, most likely, it will be priced identically in the US, at $600.
We know the Sony Xperia XZ2 sports a 5.7-inch full-screen with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels, Snapdragon 845 chip, 4/6GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM. But seems the 6GB memory option will be exclusive to the Asian market.
Both phones are expected to become available for purchase in April.
