TANIX TX3 MINI – The first Amlogic s905w TV Box; design, features, review (with coupon)

Another year, another SoC, many Amlogic S905 TV Boxes are available on the market, differing in final letter S905X, S905D and, now, S905W. The new processor was made to compete against the Rockchip RK3229, the became king in the low-level devices. Amlogic aware of this, take a step to get the crown back, so they decided to put on diet the S905 SoC and then the S905w was born, a skimmed version. And Tamix is the first one to bring to the chip to the market with its new Tanix TX3 Mini.

Desingn

Tanix TX3 Mini is made from black plastic with round edges, this is a classic design in this Android Tv Boxes category. Its package is made from cardbox, which comes with user manual, the classic remote control from AmLogic TvBoxes, power adaptor and HDMI cable (2.0a). Dimensions : 105x105x15 mm / Weight 150grs.

Features

The Tanix TX3 comes fully loaded, the SoC is an Amlogic S905W quad core ARM Cortex-A53 @ up to 1.5 GHz with penta-core Mali-450MP GPU @ 750 MHz, is paired with 1GB/2GB DDR3 (depends from model) and 16GB eMMC flash of ROM (micro SD card slot available). Ports: on the back you can fin HDMI 2.0 output, AV port (composite), optical S/PDIF, AV port (stereo audio), LAN 10/100M Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and power jack. on the left side there are two USB 2.0 host ports and the microSD card slot. It’s OS is Android 7.1.

AmLogic pull the S905w and clearly was meant made to fight against its competitor thas was stealing its crown in Android TvBoxes, beside this is S905 but with a cut in its features it’s still capable of decoding 4K@30fps H.265, MPEG 1/2/4, H.264, HD AVC/VC-1, RM/RMVB, Xvid/DivX 3/4/5/6 , RealVideo 8/9/10 (VP9 was cutted). So, we can conclude that the Tanyx TX3 Mini is suited for those with tight budget that just want to upgrade an old flat screen and give it SmartTv capabilities. And thanks to Kodi 17.3, that comes preloaded, this Android Tvbox is going to fulfill their needs.

Conclusion

The Tanix TX3 Mini is a resent addition to the Tanix Android TvBox family and the first to sport the new chip from AmLogic, the S905W, a SoC with a affordable price tag.
