Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro (aka Screen Fingerprint Version) Lands in Taiwan
In May 2018, the Chinese tech giant manufacturer Xiaomi announced its annual flagship, the Mi 8. Then, a few other models from this family were launched. They include the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, the Mi 8 Lite, and the Mi 8 SE. A bit later, two other models joined the party. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite were announced on the same day. Today, on October 22, the company launched the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro (aka Screen Fingerprint Version) in Taiwan, at a price tag of $519. However, the device will go on sale on October 23 at Xiaomi Mall and Xiaomi Home.
The biggest highlight of the device is the support for pressure sensitive screen fingerprint recognition, as the name suggests. According to the official introduction, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro provides a pressure-sensitive vibration feedback when unlocking, which makes the unlocking experience better. At the same time, the algorithm was upgraded to increase the unlocking speed by 29% and the unlocking success rate by 8.8%.
The rest of the features remain identical to the original model. Thus, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro uses a 6.21-inch AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18.7:9, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, an 8GB of RAM, a 128GB of storage, and a battery capacity of 3000mAh.
As usual, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro comes with strong camera features. On the back, it carries a dual-camera with a sensors combination of 12MP wide angle lens as well as a 12MP telephoto lens, of which the 12MP wide-angle lens unit pixel area is 1.4μm. It also supports Dual PD dual-core focus, 206 kinds of AI scene recognition, and provide 7 kinds of studio-level lighting effects.
In addition, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro supports L1 frequency band of 1575.42MHz and dual frequency positioning of the L5 frequency band of 1176.45MHz, which can effectively reduce the interference of GPS signal due to reflection in cities filled with high buildings.
With this device, the company continues the way started with the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition and will keep customers interest with the company that creates trends and follow to wishes of its fans.
