Xiaomi Redmi 4 VS Meizu M5 Design, Hardware, Battery Review

Recently, Meizu and Xiaomi both released entry smartphone below $150, they are Meizu M5 and Redmi 4, Redmi 4A, the Redmi 4 and Meizu M5 sell at the similar price and they both support fingerprint scanner. So which one is better, Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Meizu M5?

Specs Comparison

Redmi 4 is powered by Snapdragon 430 and Snapdragon 625 Octa core processor, its performance is more powerful than MT6750 processor, the main advantage of Redmi 4 is the Snapdragon 625 which is similar to the processor that these high-end smartphones such as OPPO R9S, Huawei Nova, Nubia Z11 MiniS use. So Redmi 4 is the cheapest Snapdragon 625 smartphone. So in terms of processor, Meizu M5 can not be the rival of Redmi 4, especially advanced version.

Battery

Redmi 4 is equipped with 4100mAh battery, compared with Meizu M5 built in 3070mAh battery. And Redmi 4 has smaller screen size than Meizu M5, as you know, the larger the screen is, the faster the power consumes, so in general, Redmi 4 has better battery life than Meizu M5.

Design

In terms of appearance, Redmi 4 uses all metal unibody with front traditional design and three-step design, it adds CNC polishing with three colors and mature design.

Meizu M5 uses plastic design with polycarbonate plastic shell, aiming at the light and colorful appearance with 5 colors available. And Meizu M5 has fingerprint scanner on the front.

According to the appearance comparison, Redmi 4 and Meizu M5 have their own advantages, the former one uses metal body with higher cost but more suitable for the users, however, the highlights of Meizu M5 are the front fingerprint scanner on the home button, and the light and various color.

Other Aspect

Redmi 4 advanced version is equipped with 1080P screen resolution, but Meizu M5 advanced version only has 720P screen resolution,so we believe many users would like to choose 1080P smartphone.

OS

Redmi 4 runs MIUI 8 and Meizu M5 operates Flyme 5.2 OS which are both nice and popular system with smoothness and better users’ experience.

Conclusion

The advantage of Meizu M5 is the front fingerprint scanner, which other smartphones at the similar price don’t have, and it has better design, Meizu M5 has more color choices with nice beauty. But the disadvantage is the plastic design. Compared with Redmi 4, they have similar price, but in terms of specs comparison, they have their own features in design, and Redmi 4 is better than Meizu M5 in performance, battery life, screen resolution and craftsmanship. So it is more competitive.
