Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra Goes To China at 2999 Yuan

At CES 2018, Sony, which has decided to stay in the smartphones business for strategic reasons only, announced a few new smartphones. Among them were the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra, its regular version, the XA2, and a low-end L2. They are already available for pre-order in Europe. So the company decided this is the right time to turn to China, the largest market in the world. Today it became known Sony will hold a conference on February 4 in Shanghai, where it will announce the Xperia XA2 Ultra and well-known Sony Xperia Touch.

Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra

The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra is a mid-range handset with a stylish look and super-narrow bezels. The bezels are almost unseen. That’s why it looks like the Nubia line handsets. Moreover, if the front is identical to other Xperia line handsets, the back differs a lot. The company has added a fingerprint scanner, which is now placed in the upper center side of the back below the camera.

As for the specs list, the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra comes with a 6-inch Full HD screen. The SoC is identical to the Xperia XA2, but it is paired with a 4+64GB storage combination besides the standard 3+32GB variant. The battery has become 3580mAh instead of 2700mAh. The handset features the same 23MP primary camera, but the front camera has been improved a lot in comparison to the regular variant. It’s 16MP with less extreme FOV, 16:9 aspect, autofocus, and OIS.

According to the official statement, the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra will cost 2999 yuan ($474). Though it’s an acceptable price tag, the phone is available for pre-order in the US for only $449.99.
